What We Do

Creating Healthy Families

Edmonds Family Chiropractic specializes in chiropractic care for families, during pregnancy, postpartum, infancy, and through early childhood.

Pregnancy & Postpartum Care

Our goal is to help families get the best start possible. Creating the optimal brain-body connection during pregnancy, prior to childbirth and postpartum is one of our primary focuses at Edmonds Family Chiropractic. Many issues in infancy and early childhood can be traced to the stressful experiences of childbirth. Birth is a beautiful process, but takes its toll on both mother and baby.

From tongue-ties and latching issues, to ear infections and colic, chiropractic adjustments have proven to be an effective treatment to address the root causes of these issues. For mom, recovery from the birthing process is a delicate and essential process that often requires time and patience. Our office has helped many postpartum moms recover from diastasis concerns, pelvic floor issues and breastfeeding postural problems.

Pregnancy Care

Chiropractic care during pregnancy is focused around the three Ps: power, positioning, and passenger. Adjustments help a mother’s nervous system optimally communicate, which allows the body’s muscular system to function optimally.  Furthermore, adjustments help pelvic alignment this can ease discomfort and stress associated with pregnancy. Also improving pelvic alignment, often helps the “passenger” because optimal alignment of the pelvis often gives baby optimal room in utero to go into ideal positioning.

Webster’s technique is the chiropractic pregnancy technique that addresses the 3 P’s and we at EFC are all certified in this technique through the ICPA (International Chiropractic Pediatric Association). Many of us at the office have also studied other advanced pregnancy-related courses to help our moms through their pregnancy and postpartum journey.

Postpartum Care

Many of our pregnancy patients continue care postpartum - we often work together with physical therapists to help mothers recover from childbirth in a natural way. For vaginal childbirth, we recommend 2 - 6 weeks post-delivery to return to chiropractic care. For C-Section delivery, we recommend a longer recovery period. Our office has helped many postpartum moms recover from diastasis concerns, pelvic floor issues and breastfeeding postural problems. Often, we focus on the event of birth and not postpartum recovery, which can be the rest of life.

Infant & Childhood Care

Our goal is to help families get the best start possible. Creating the optimal brain-body connection during pregnancy, prior to childbirth and postpartum is one of our primary focuses at Edmonds Family Chiropractic. Many issues in infancy and early childhood can be traced to the stressful experiences of childbirth. Birth is a beautiful process, but takes its toll on both mother and baby. From tongue-ties and latching issues, to ear infections and colic, chiropractic adjustment have proven to be an effective treatment to address the root causes of these issues.

Infant Care

Infant chiropractic techniques are not like chiropractic care for adults. The techniques are similar to massage, where gentle holds and pressure are used to help calm the infant's nervous system and decrease tension along the spine. Often, childbirth can be a stressful experience for the mom, but especially for the baby. Many common issues during infancy can be traced to trauma or stress sustained during birth or pregnancy. Feeding issues and digestive issues can manifest from tension/misalignment in the spine and can be resolved with chiropractic care.

Childhood Chiropractic

Most kids may not have back pain, but that doesn’t mean chiropractic care can’t help! Different health concerns from ear infections, crawling issues, bedwetting, balance and even attention/anxiety-concerns are all conditions that we have helped in children. These concerns are often related to the nervous system and how optimal the function is between the brain-body connection. We at EFC use our scan technology to measure the nervous system and a brain-based kiddo exam to evaluate where our kiddo patients are at in the hierarchy of brain development. Our chiropractors have studied with some of the best pediatric chiropractors in the country and are FOCUS certified.

Family Wellness

Creating and maintaining the health and wellness of families through Chiropractic is our goal at Edmonds Family Chiropractic. While we often begin with one family member, we eventually see everyone in the family! The trends of modern life lend to a sedentary lifestyle in school and the office have wreaked havoc on the modern spine, and lead to a host of reversible chronic issues, without the use of medication.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does your office offer any special promotions?

Yes, for non-insurance new patients, that do not fall into our restrictions, please click here for our $125 new patient exam

What Chiropractic techniques does your office use?

Activator/Arthrostim, Extremity/Ankle/Shoulder Adjusting, Diversified/Palmer Package, TRT/MC2, Gonstead, Pettibon, Cranialsacral Fascial Technique (CFT), Baby/Children Adjusting, and Pregnant Women Adjusting/ Webster Technique Certified

I like or don’t like hearing or feeling my spine move?

First, that clicking or popping sound is just gas coming out of the joint, and nothing is breaking. Second, not every person in our office receives the same technique and we can use our gentle kiddo adjustment techniques on adults and pregnant women as well.

Do you have massage at your office?

Although massage is great, we specialize in Chiropractic and specifically chiropractic for kids and pregnant women. For those who want massage or need it, we refer to some of our great community partners.

What does the office look like?

Absolutely, I would like to know where I am going as well. Also, we know transitions can be hard for some kiddos and some adults too. You can see a tour of our office here.

How do pregnant patients get adjusted?

We have special pillows that allow our pregnant patients to lie face down.  Most love it so much they want to take the pillows home with them :). All the chiropractors in our office are Webster-Certified so we have been trained to adjust pregnant women.

How long do appointments take?

An adjustment is usually 10 to 15 minutes (we understand our patients are busy and don’t need to be waiting in our office for long periods of time).  An evaluation in our office can run anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.

How much is an appointment in your office?

Our adjustment fees can range from $40 to $150 depending upon the type of appointment and if insurance is involved.

How often should I get adjusted?

The start of care usually requires the most time commitment. After your initial care plan, most patients in our office continue to do wellness or maintenance care that can be weekly to once every couple weeks.

What are the scans?

In some cases, instead of xray, we use our Insight Technology. It uses sEMG (surface electromyography), thermography and heart rate variablility (HRV) to get an idea of the health of your spine and nervous system. It does not give off any radiation, but instead reads information off your body. This technology helps us give our best recommendations for our adult, kid and pregnant patients.

What a tomato and kiddo adjustment have in common?

For those who are unfamiliar with kiddo adjustments, we use same amount of pressure to check the ripeness of a tomato to adjust a baby or child. We check and work with a lot of kids to help with lots of different concerns caused by sports, posture or even birth.

What insurance do you take?

Although a lot of our patients are cash patients, we do accept insurance and will bill out of network benefits. Below is a list of some of the insurances we accept:

  • Kaiser Permanente
  • Regence
  • Premera
  • Lifewise
  • Aetna
  • First Choice
  • Medicare
  • L & I
  • Uniform/UMP
  • Motor Vehicle Accident Insurance

If your insurance is not listed we will do a complementary benefits check to help you.

Do we take X-rays?

Yes, do have a digital xray on-site, but we try and limit the amount of xray and the areas we xray.  Also WE DO NOT XRAY kids or pregnant women. We use xray to best figure out how to care for our patients.
